Types of dental issues that can be corrected with Composite Bonding
Composite bonding can correct numerous damage-related, colour-related, and shape-related teeth issues. Composite resin bonding can;
- Repair your chipped or cracked teeth
- Change the shape of teeth
- Repair decayed teeth to fill cavities and replace amalgam fillings
- Increase the length of short teeth
- Improve the appearance of discoloured teeth
- Close gaps between teeth
- Protect exposed roots when they are exposed by receding gums

Am I suitable for composite bonding?
It is suitable for almost everyone who needs to correct minor dental imperfections. However, the effectiveness is determined by the level of damage to the teeth or the condition your teeth are in. For serious cracks and chips, dental crowns or veneers are more suitable. Some tooth gaps, if too wide, need to be corrected through Invisalign or other orthodontic treatment. We carry out a detailed clinical examination and perform a digital intra-oral scan for an aspirational smile analysis to help you decide which treatment offers the best results for you. If you have a general or nightly habit of teeth grinding, it is best to look at other options as well.
How long do the results last?
Good oral hygiene and bonding care determine how long the results last. Generally, bonding can last up to 10 years. It does wear with time, lose shine, and pick up staining. However, re-contouring, polishing, and touching-up are possible. If you are careful enough to protect your bonded teeth from hard foods and excessive nail-biting, you can make them last their full lifespan. You will need replacements after that.
Aftercare- how to take care of my teeth after the treatment
- The biggest culprit of bonded teeth is hard foods, such as candies or ice cubes. Biting pencils, pens, and daredevil tricks with your teeth like opening bottle caps or pulling off corks, are damaging to the bonding.
- As it is not possible to effectively whiten bonded teeth, it’s crucial to ensure their colour is retained by practicing anti-staining teeth cleaning. Make sure to clean your teeth after eating foods that cause stains and discolouration. It is not only good practice for maintaining the bonding’s lustre but also for the general health of your teeth.
- Opt for non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean your teeth twice a day.
- Teeth grinding will have to be a habit of the past. Consider wearing a nightguard if you have sleep bruxism.
- Avoid overly sugary, acidic, and highly starchy foods. Eat a fibre, mineral, and vitamin-rich diet with lots of greens, vegetables, and fruit.
- Make regular visits to the dentist a general rule to maintain overall good hygiene.

Frequently asked questions
How long does composite bonding last?
Composite bonding typically lasts around 2-5 years. It can chip and stain and requires good oral hygiene and regular hygiene maintenance every 6 months.
Should I do tooth whitening before composite bonding?
Yes because the composite shade will be selected to match your current tooth colour. You should whiten your teeth for 2 weeks, then leave the colour to even out for 1 week before the composite bonding. The composite will stick better to your teeth if you wait 1 week before the composite bonding.
Do I have to have my teeth shaved down for composite bonding?
Unlikely. Composite bonding does not usually require any cutting of your teeth.
Does composite bonding hurt?
No, you often don’t need injections and it is usually completed in one visited.
What can I eat after composite bonding?
Avoid foods with turmeric, saffron and red wine for 2 days straight after the composite bonding has been placed. Slice your apples and carrots, rather than biting directly into them.
What do I do if my composite bonding has chipped?
Don’t worry, it can be repaired. Please contact reception team.
What can make composite bonding last longer?
Please wear your retainer or night guard as instructed to reduce the risk of composite bonding breaking.
